Art: From Mannequin Lamps to Midnight Canvas Sessions
Welcome to my art sanctuary—a collection of works born from lockdown days, long nights, and the need to keep my sanity intact. When the world went quiet and life shrank to four walls, I needed an escape, a way to channel the dark, tangled threads of thought that only seemed to grow in isolation. So, I turned to art, hoping it might hush the chaos, if only for a little while.
It all started with some mannequins I got my hands on (don’t ask me how—just know they came home with me one day, looking a bit forlorn and in need of purpose). Soon enough, I was cutting them up, wiring them, and transforming them into lamps—macabre, maybe, but somehow strangely comforting. Apparently, I wasn’t the only one who thought so; one of my first pieces found its way into a local artist’s studio, where it now presides like some kind of odd, shadowy sentinel.
But mannequins were only the beginning. The addiction had set in, and soon I was ordering canvases in every size, stocking up on acrylic paints, and diving into the world of colour, texture, and raw expression. Each painting’s a journey—sometimes lighthearted, sometimes dark, always honest. Every brushstroke, every smudge and swirl, is a bit of me on that canvas, a reflection of the highs, lows, and everything in between.
So, have a look, and take it as you will. My art isn’t about perfection or polished lines; it’s about finding a piece of calm in the chaos, an outlet when the world gets heavy. I hope these pieces speak to something in you—maybe they’ll even make you laugh or shake your head in that “Ian’s off again” way. Either way, if you find a spark of enjoyment, then I’ve done my job.
