What to write

Keep it honest. Keep it human.

You do not need to sound polished. In fact, please do not. The best reviews are the ones that sound like a real person who got something useful and wants the next person to know.

What helped?

Was it Bob, The PR Firm, The Gate, the machine, the Operator, the food work, or finally understanding why willpower kept collapsing?

What changed?

Did you stop drinking, reduce sugar, cook again, sleep better, feel clearer, calm your nervous system, or stop treating yourself like a lost cause?

What landed?

Was there a line, chapter, framework, metaphor, video, post, guide or book that made the old pattern finally make sense?

Who would you recommend it to?

Someone stuck in the drinking loop? Someone under load? Someone tired of self-help fluff? Someone who needs mechanics, not shame?

Hitting the reset button

April 29, 2026

I’m not sure how Ian’s content found me…(the power of the Internet right?) But as someone who hit a personal ‘reset’ last year, in crisis…his writing speaks to me. I am one of many of my generation under load. A tribe where drinking and high-performance is hard wired into the fabric of our lives. It can be relentless. Unsustainable. Exhausting. I’m guessing it starts to pinch more as our human hardware starts to get a bit tired…but mid-life..(or ‘late prime’ as my bro labelled me last week…JEEZUS..) is where it’s at. Right now a regular reminder that what I feel is pretty normal is enough for me…so FB updates feel like much-needed support. I’m hoping to join a retreat in Autumn…and maybe I’ll pick up one of his books before them…load-permitting.

What I've been looking for

April 29, 2026

I’ve read a lot of “self-help/motivation (whatever you want to call them) books.”

Most of them?

Fluff. Buzzwords. Repackaged common sense wearing a blazer.

Then I read Under Load by Ian Callaghan.

And something clicked.

Not a polite little “hmm, interesting.”

A full-blown, lights-on, oh… THAT’S what’s been missing moment.

This isn’t a skim-it-on-a-Sunday book.

I had to slow right down.

Re-read.

Sit with it.

Because it doesn’t just tell you what to do — it rewires how you see what’s happening.

The Machine.

The Tone.

The freaking Barrister.

At first I was thinking, “Where is this going?”

Then suddenly it all locks together and you can’t unsee it.

And here’s the kicker…

It works.

Not in a hypothetical, “that sounds smart” way.

In a real-world, “I changed this and got a result” way.

No fluff. No ego. No recycled LinkedIn wisdom pretending to be insight.

Just clarity.

The kind you’ve been quietly hoping someone would give you without the usual nonsense attached.

Safe to say:

I’m in.

I want everything Ian’s put out.

Because when something finally makes this much sense…

You don’t dabble.

You double down.

Life changing.

Extremely inspirational.

Since following Ian’s posts and reading ‘fix your metabolism’ and ‘emotional mastery’ I’ve changed my whole outlook on health and nutrition. Taking back control of decisions which I’m still working on.

This is not a fluffy well being programme this is the to the point with straight talking about being in control of your decisions to lead a healthier life.

I’ve also bought his recipe book , and each one explains what the food is actually contributing to you which I’ve found fascinating.

If you want to change your life for the better. Whether it’s alcohol / food / drugs etc. this is for you.

The raw truth

April 29, 2026

the titke says if all, Ian has a way of cutting through the bullshit and telling it like it is. Truly inspirational is an understatement. His outlook on life and how to deal with every aspect of alcoholism is mind blowing. Life should not be taken for granted and Ian tells us this in a way that hits home. Thank you mate, keep up the good work!

Was going to do dry January and then started reading Ian’s posts on FB , it has shone a light on all the reasons I need to stop drinking full stop . 4 months in and I can say I’m not a drinker, still read the posts to help reinforce what I now know . Best decision I’ve made in years , keep up the work Ian your helping loads of people out there get their shit together…
